Dr. Diarmaid Cronin is a highly experienced restorative and implant dentist, currently based between Cork and London, with over two decades of clinical and academic expertise. A graduate of University College Cork (UCC) in 1999, Diarmaid initially moved to the UK for what he expected to be a short-term opportunity — but stayed for 22 years, building an exceptional career in restorative and implant dentistry.

After beginning his career in general dental practice in London, Diarmaid progressed to hospital-based training and began focusing on advanced implantology and restorative procedures. He holds two prestigious postgraduate degrees:

  • MSc in Dental Implants from King’s College London (Guy’s Hospital) – 2007
  • MSc in Restorative Dentistry from University College London (Eastman Dental Institute) – 2011

In recognition of his clinical excellence and contribution to dental education, Diarmaid was awarded a Fellowship from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FGDP) in 2012. He has worked for over 10 years as a part-time tutor on the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry, and also serves as an examiner for the Faculty.

Since 2017, Diarmaid has divided his time between the UK and Ireland, holding the position of Specialist in Restorative Dentistry at the Cork University Dental School and Hospital. His clinical interests span the full spectrum of restorative care, with particular expertise in:

  • Dental implant treatment planning and placement
  • Complex restorative cases and full-mouth rehabilitation
  • Multidisciplinary treatment for challenging dental conditions

Dr. Harriet Byrne is a highly qualified oral surgeon based in Cork, Ireland, with a strong academic and clinical background in dentistry and oral surgery. She graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from Trinity College Dublinin 2017, and has since built an impressive portfolio of academic and professional achievements.

Harriet was awarded:

  • Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery and Primary Care Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
  • A Diploma in Higher Education from University College Cork

Her early clinical training included house officer positions at the Dublin Dental University Hospital and the Oral Surgery Department at Cork University Dental School and Hospital.

She further developed her surgical expertise through positions at the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit in Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, and later at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department in St. James’s Hospital and Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin.

In 2023, Harriet Byrne achieved Membership in Oral Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, a significant milestone in her specialist career. The following year, she completed her Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery at University College Cork, graduating with first class honours. Her thesis, titled “An Assessment of the Oral Health Status and Dental Care Needs of Oncology Patients Receiving Bone Modifying Agents,” was defended with distinction.

Today, Dr. Harriet combines her passion for education and clinical practice. She holds a part-time specialist academic position at the Cork University Dental School and Hospital while also practicing privately as a specialist in oral surgery in Cork.

Dr. Eoin Gough is a dedicated dental professional currently specializing in oral surgery in Cork, Ireland. He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University College Cork (UCC) in 2019 and has since gained valuable experience across general dental practice and hospital-based oral surgery.

Following his graduation, Eoin worked in general dental practice across Cork, Kilkenny, and Dublin, where he provided high-quality dental care in a range of clinical settings. During this time, he was awarded:

  • A Diploma in Primary Care Dentistry
  • Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

In 2022, Eoin returned to Cork to focus on hospital-based oral surgery. He took up a house officer post in the Oral Surgery Department at the Cork University Dental School and Hospital, where he also earned a Certificate in Higher Education from UCC and a Diploma in Clinical Education from Queen’s University Belfast.

In 2023, Eoin expanded his experience in complex oral and maxillofacial cases as a house officer in the National Maxillofacial Unit, working across St. James’s Hospital and Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin.

He is currently in his second year of a three-year Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery at Cork University Dental School and Hospital, where he continues to refine his clinical skills and contribute to research in the field of oral surgery.


Dr. Simon Stokes is a highly experienced dental practitioner and educator with a special interest in clinical endodontics. A graduate of University College Cork (UCC) in 2006, Simon spent over 15 years in the UK, working as a general dental practitioner and serving as an educational supervisor for dental foundation training, where he mentored newly qualified dentists.

Simon achieved Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008. Furthering his commitment to clinical excellence, he completed a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies at the University of Bristol in 2016, graduating with distinction.

Throughout his postgraduate studies, Simon was recognised for outstanding academic and clinical performance, receiving:

 

  • The Laurence Oldham Award for best performance in Oral Surgery (2015)
  • The Lloyd & White Award for best performance in Business Management Skills (2016)

In 2021, Simon returned to Cork, where he currently serves as a Clinical Tutor in the Restorative Dentistry Department at the Cork University Dental School and Hospital, helping to train and inspire the next generation of dental professionals.

Simon recently completed an MSc in Clinical Endodontics from the University of South Wales, again graduating with distinction. He is passionate about all aspects of endodontic treatment, including both non-surgical root canal therapyand surgical endodontic procedures.
