Dr Diarmuid O’Cronin

BDS, MFGDP(RCS), MSc Dental Implants (KCL), MSc Rest Dent Prac (UCL), FFGDP(RCS).

Diarmuid graduated from UCC in 1999. Like many newly qualified dentists he went to the UK for what he expected to be one or two years….it turned out to be 22 years! While in London he worked as a general dentist initially, then following hospital-based training eventually focused on implant and restorative dentistry.

He was awarded MSc in Dental Implants from KCL (Guys) 2007 and an MSc in Restorative Dentistry from UCL (Eastman) 2011. He received a Fellowship from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (2012) where he has worked part-time for the past ten years as a tutor to students on the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry. Diarmuid also works as an examiner for the Faculty.

Since 2017 he has divided his time between London and the UCC Dental Hospital where he holds the position of Specialist in Restorative Dentistry. Diarmuid enjoys all aspects of restorative dentistry, and has a special interest in dental implants and challenging restorative situations.

Jane O’Regan

Jane graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University College Cork in 2017. She was awarded the American Association of Endodontists Certificate prize in her final year for first place in clinical Endodontics. Upon graduation, she worked in a general dental practice in Dublin for two years and during this time, she completed her membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) examinations with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.

She returned to Cork University Dental School and Hospital in 2019 to take up a role as Senior House Officer in Restorative Dentistry, where she had a keen interest in endodontics. She went on to complete a two-year full-time Clinical Masters degree (MClinDent) in Endodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. She returned to Ireland to practice as an Endodontist and is currently based between Dublin and Cork.

Simon Stokes

Simon graduated from UCC in 2006 and then worked for fifteen years in the UK as a general dental practitioner and also as an educational supervisor for dental foundation training.

Simon was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2008. In 2016 he obtained a Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from the University of Bristol graduating with a distinction. He was awarded the Laurence Oldham award for best performance in Oral Surgery in 2015 and the Lloyd & White award for best performance in Business Management Skills in 2016.

He moved back to Cork in 2021 and currently works as a Clinical Tutor in the Restorative Department of Cork University Dental Hospital. He recently completed the MSc in Clinical Endodontics from the University of South Wales, graduating with a distinction. Simon is interested in all aspects of endodontics encompassing both non-surgical and surgical treatments.

Harriet Byrne

B.Dent.Sc (hons), MFDS RCSI, DipPCD RCSI, PgDip (ClinEd)

Harriet graduated in dentistry from the Dublin Dental Hospital in 2017. She has always had an interest in oral surgery. She was awarded her Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, and Primary Care Diploma from the RCSI and her diploma in Higher Education from UCC. She is currently in the second year of a three-year Clinical Doctorate in Oral Surgery in the Cork Dental Hospital.

Harriet held house officer positions in the Dublin Dental Hospital and in the Oral Surgery Department in the Cork Dental School. She has worked in the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit in Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff and in the Restorative Department in the Cardiff Dental School. She progressed to the Oral and Maxillofacial Department in St. James Hospital / Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin where she still holds a part-time maxillofacial position.
